Heartstopper - Alice Oseman

Image
After reading a bittersweet novel I needed something relaxing, a simple happy book. One of my friend's sister has these 4 volumes of Heartstopper. I borrowed and finished them. It was the first English pictorial book I read since childhood. It's the story of Charlie who came out as gay and was bullied at school and Nick who at first was confused about his sexuality and later figured out he is bisexual, along with their friends and families. For some it's a struggle to figure out their sexuality. They might be going through a lot of confusion and tough times, trying to figure out how to come out to families and friends. Not everyone will be accepting at first. There will be a lot of emotions and traumas going on, on both sides. While trying to heal from our traumas, anxieties etc etc etc we need other people too.  Overall it's a good read. πŸ’™ Quotes πŸ’™

A Thousand Boy Kisses - Tillie Cole

Image
It's a bittersweet romantic love story between Rune Kristiansen and Poppy Litchfield. Rune, a Norwegian boy whose family moved to Georgia from Oslo when he was five. Poppy his neighbor, met the Viking boy on his very first day at Georgia and they became friends. The story is told at different stages of their life. At age 9 Poppy's Mamaw (grandmother) was very sick and she left home for heaven. Before she left, she gave an adventure for Poppy. She gave a jar filled with thousand pink hearts to Poppy to record all the boy kisses that will make her heart almost burst, the ones that are most special to remember when old and the ones that will make her smile when she remembers them in her mind.  Of course the  first kiss is: Kiss1 With my Rune. In the blossom grove. My heart almost burst. At age 15 they were separated because of Rune's father's work. They talked everyday for two months and all of a sudden there was no news about Poppy. She just vanished from his life for t...

Have a Little Faith - Mitch Albom

Image
" Will you do my eulogy? " This dialog made me buy this book from a second hand shop. ( noun: eulogy; plural noun: eulogies: a speech or piece of writing that praises someone or something highly, especially a tribute to someone who has just died. ) This a true story, written based on the conversations between Mitch and the two pastors- Albert Lewis (The Reb) and Henry Covington. It also mentions about different religious beliefs and customs. There are some Sermons by The Reb mentioned in this book which are nice. There are some quotes which made me think like if someone has to do my eulogy who will that be and what will that person say about me ? It would be funny if one of my gals do it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.  I think it would be nice if we could give eulogy to our loved ones. But I don't think I will be able to speak up on that day. The loss of our loved ones hurts us and breaks us. Trust me I know when I say this, that it takes a long time to heal. But when we speak of the good mem...

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - Taylor Jenkins Reid

Image
It's an amazing portrait of Evelyn Hugo, the Superstar who wanted Monique Grant a not so famous journalist to ghostwrite her autobiography. It's about the struggles she had to face and the compromises she had to make in order to escape Hell's Kitchen and her way to Hollywood. The answer to Why Monique Grant is a surprising twist in the plot.  Overall I loved this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ πŸ’– QuotesπŸ’– 'So do yourself a favor and learn how to grab life by the balls, dear. Don't be so tied up trying to do the right thing when the smart thing is so painfully clear.' 'Never let anyone treat you Ordinary.'

Twenty Five Twenty One

Twenty-Five Twenty-One is a Korean drama written by Kwon Do-eun and directed by Jung Ji-hyun. On watching the trailer I thought it was going to be the usual romantic K-drama. When it aired the 12th episode, I started watching the first episode. OMG!!! It's amazing. So I thought of writing about it. But am still confused about what to write - Should I write episode recap or summary or review or only the interesting things!!! πŸ€” Till I figure out about it, a small sneak peek is below. Most of the k-dramas has a graph, where it will start slowly and reaches to a peak, then there will be a dip, then again rise/fall/remain constant. But this series, it maintained the highest peak without any fall. I really enjoyed it. It's really a great combination of best script, acting and direction. It portrayed passion, friendship,  love, struggles and letting go nicely.  Short Intro : A teenage girl Kim Min-Chea (Ballet dancer) had a fight with her mother Na Hee-Do (Famous Fencer) and she cam...

Blog#1

Hi πŸ‘‹  I am new to blogging. I am not much of a writer but I thought of expressing my views and thoughts about different subjects. Actually one of my friends, suggested me to start a blog, while we were discussing over a movie and I told about the things I noticed and shared my thoughts, my friend asked me - "Why don't you start a blog?". At first I thought, he was making fun then I realized no he was serious. That made me think and I thought of giving it a shot. I would like to thank my friend for giving me this idea. I hope I could enjoy this journey. Cheers to me for taking the first step.
